We are a registered British Company with our Head Office in Dorset, UK and a network of experienced property experts working with us throughout Portugal. We deal with all types of property sales: from building plots to renovation projects; apartments to villas; character village houses to substantial country estates; as well as off-plan.

Alongside our sales portfolio we also offer Holiday Rentals advertising.  A bi-lingual portal covering all types of holiday accommodation: from villas to apartments; hotels and guesthouses; campsites to boats; as well as other associated services.


CODE OF PRACTICE 

As a UK registered company we operate under UK jurisdiction - this is reciprocal with Portugal under EU legislation. 

We comply with all British and Portuguese Laws - including Tax Laws - and we will not be complicit with either clients or applicants wishing to avoid, or reduce, the taxes due to the Portuguese Government in relation to their activities in Portugal. 

At all times we strive to conduct our business in a professional manner - with honesty and integrity

We do not knowingly mislead our clients or our applicants

Where applicable we represent our client - associate or vendor - and not the purchaser and, in these circumstances it is our client, not a purchaser, who pays our commission

VIEWING PROPERTY:

squaremetres does not offer ‘viewing trips’ as such. In our experience, a packaged viewing trip does little to provide an appropriate environment for what is an exciting, but serious undertaking. We know that prospective purchasers are generally much happier with the freedom to organise their own trips to suit their schedules.

When you begin planning your trip we will be very happy to provide help and advice.  squaremetres is very aware of how important and exciting a 'viewing trip' is - so we aim to provide an exclusive and personal service wherever possible.

This means that we do need a degree of advance notice for your trip - in order that our team can organise a schedule of property visits etc. to gel with your other arrangements.  If you are interested in making a trip to Portugal to assess whether it has what you are looking for then squaremetres will be very happy to assist you in whatever way we can.

Case Study
On July 16th 2007 Mr. J from Surrey struck a deal to buy a property in France for 750,000 Euros. On July 17th the Euro reached 1.50 to the pound, so the property should have cost him £500,000 but when Mr. J came to pay for the property on October 15th 2007 the Euro had dropped back to 1.43, the result of which was a final price of £524,475 - an additional cost of a staggering £24,475 in just three months!!

Much of this loss could have been prevented by securing the rate with a Forward Contract. With a Forward Contract you can secure the current spot rate for up to 24 months with just a 5% deposit. This product is ideal for any property purchase that uses multiple stage payments.
